About
the Founder
Founder, Louisa Serene draws on her passion for yoga, her artistic
spirit and her desire for clothes that fit well in the development
of SereneWear, a line of uniquely functional and stylish activewear.
In her search for the perfect yoga/casualwear, Serene saw an opportunity
for branded activewear free of "practice" interfering bells and whistles.
SereneWear brings novelty to the activewear category with the brand's
first and signature product, the "Cupcake Short". The Cupcake short,
available in both supplex and 100% cotton, will fill a current gap
in the available product offering. The Cupcake Short draws on classic
Iyengar style clothing, touting a unique band of fabric snug to the
thigh that prevents any "revealing" awkward moments both for the wearer
and others in yoga class.
Further, the SereneWear logo plays on the idea of 'yoga as indulgence
that appeals to all.' In this vein, the logo is a contemporary rendering
of a curvilinear cupcake. Together the unique offering and superior
quality of the garments as well as the compelling story behind the
brand will be the foundation of a new branded active wear line and
the anchor of a SereneWear luxury, lifestyle-wellness brand.
SereneWear founder, Louisa Serene graduated Cum Laude with a BA in
French and Political Science from Dartmouth College and will graduate
from Columbia Business School in May 2006. She is a Yoga Alliance
registered yoga teacher and has taught yoga in New York City for two
years. From 2002-2005, Ms. Serene worked as a research associate at
JP Morgan Chase covering the retail industry, and from 2000-2002,
she worked as an analyst in the mergers and acquisitions group at
Morgan Stanley. In 1998, Ms. Serene was awarded an academic citation
for excellence in Figure Drawing and Studio Art at Dartmouth College.
